Latin Lunch

Seis Vecinos Restaurant, Bronx, New York

On a Thursday during Hispanic Heritage Month, by pure coincidence I happened to be in the Melrose section of the Bronx, a neighborhood in New York City where 70% of the population claims Hispanic and Latino heritage. What an appropriate time and place to seek out a Latino restaurant for lunch. There’s an abundance of them, but I landed at Seis Vecinos. Read about it >

Dinner With a Mexican-Honduran Flair

Spiders climbed along the walls, cobwebs fluttered in the air being stirred by the air-conditioning, and skeletons saluted and waved to you (or beckoned you, if you’re in a darker mood). I had a feeling that any other holiday—or any regular day, for that matter—would be just as festive. Florida’s Latin Flavors at Casa Reina

Casa Reina, St. Augustine, FloridaIn the blistering summer heat of St. Augustine, Florida, when your skin feels as if it’s about to spontaneously burst into flame, I was lured toward the restorative breeze coming off the Matanzas River at the edge of the city’s historic district. It’s a wonderful place to cool off and the perfect location to have dinner.
