When you’ve had your fill of traditional Portuguese foods, like bacalhau, sardines, francesinha, and pastel de nata, Troppo Squisito provides an alternative. “Too Exquisite” may be overstretching it a bit, but, nevertheless, you’ll enjoy a solid Italian meal in one of the country’s largest squares, where you never know when a special event will pop up, from an outdoor concert to a tourism promotion event for Macau, a Portuguese territory on the coast of China until 1999. Experience it all from an outdoor table and enjoy the cuisine of a fellow Mediterranean country.
Try This: Start with the perfectly cheesy-salty buffalo mozzarella with tomatoes and a few basil leaves, gently drizzled with an olive oil–basil combination. More than a dozen types of pizzas are offered, but, instead, I happily selected the sea bass in a potato crust that’s simultaneously soft and crunchy, served on a generous bed of carrots, onion, peppers, and zucchini. For dessert, old Italian standbys like tiramisù or panna cotta will do the trick.
