The family-owned and -operated Golden Goose Grill has been pleasing diners in Sedona since it opened in 2010. There’s a lovely outdoor patio with colorful umbrellas, but when I was there, it was 95 degrees out, so that didn’t seem like a viable option. I headed inside and took a seat in one of the turquoise blue chairs, past the wall of blown-glass bowls and the fully stocked bar, and under some solid ceiling beams. The relaxed atmosphere and the spot-on service make this restaurant memorable, as does the wonderful comfort food you’re about to enjoy.
Try This: I wasn’t aware that Arizona produced wine, so I chose to sample a local touch of the grape, like the Arizona Stronghold Nachise red wine. Begin your meal with the Italian risotto balls with mozzarella and peas, served in pool of marinara sauce and topped with shavings of parmesan cheese. Then select the Pollo Nirvana—chicken breast stuffed with prosciutto and fontina, and topped with mushrooms and a mustard sauce. It comes with au gratin potatoes as well as a side salad with grape tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, and Italian dressing.
